9th FOUNDATION DAY OF ICAR-INDIAN INSTITUTE OF RICE RESEARCH (ICAR-IIRR)
ICAR-IIRR celebrated its 9th Foundation Day on 21 Dec 2023 in hybrid mode Dr R M Sundaram, Director welcomed the participants and gave a brief account of the progress and achievements of the Institute. Dr S K Pradhan Addl. Director General (FFC), ICAR, Guest of Honour, appreciated the Institute’s progress in terms of development and popularization of technologies for enhancing rice yields and quality. The chief guest of the program, Dr Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR, applauded the efforts of the Institute in developing rice technologies for the benetif of the farmers and consumers and emphasized the importance of research in bringing in climate resilience and outlined the future research directions. Dr D Raji Reddy Former Director of Research, PJTSAU, who delivered the Dr. SVS Shastry Memorial Lecture, emphasized on prediction models and the technologies for rice improvement amidst a rapidly changing climate and changing consumer requirement in world rice market. Dr MBB Prasad Babu, Head PMEC presented the vote of thanks. The event also recognized the outstanding contributions of the staff and research scholars through awards for best research articles, best research workers, and outstanding performances in technical, administrative, and Finance sections. The participation of esteemed guests from other ICAR institutes, online participants and dignitaries from state agricultural universities across India added to the significance of the occasion. The efforts of the Director and the entire staff of ICAR-IIRR were acknowledged and appreciated.
